Slow Self-Empathy: Transforming Pain into the Beauty of Needs

Online workshop, Sunday 10 October at 1700-2000, Stockholm time

  • Do you easily fall into self-criticism?
  • Are you tired of blaming yourself?
  • Do you struggle to find self-compassion?

In this online workshop, Towe Widstrand (Sweden) will help you explore self-criticism and find ways to connect with the unmet needs behind it. The intention of the workshop is to experience and appreciate the power of your unmet needs, rather than rejecting them and pushing them away.

Based on Nonviolent Communication (NVC), this slow self-empathy process will support you in getting to the core of your life energies through pure practice so that you can see how it can serve your life.

This workshop is not suitable for beginners. We ask that all participants have at least 10 days of training with Certified Trainers.

The workshop is held on the online platform Zoom and all participants will engage in practice in pairs and groups.

Language of instruction: English

Contribution: NOK 1,197 (appr. EUR 119)

ABOUT THE TRAINERS
Towe Widstrand BA, is a graduate of the University of Stockholm, Sweden in business and psychology. She has worked as a training consultant since the mid-1980s. After meeting and studying with NVC’s founder, Marshall Rosenberg, since 1987, she devoted her professional life to sharing NVC in various ways. Over the decades, Towe has conducted NVC trainings in more than 20 countries, working in a wide variety of settings, including public organisations, private companies, public groups and with individuals. She assisted Marshall as a trainer in many International Intensive Trainings (IITs). She has also served the Center for Nonviolent Communication by sitting on the Board of Directors and filling the role of International Project Coordinator.

Gert Skoczowsky-Danielsen will support Towe in this workshop. He has an MA in International Relations and Spanish from the University of St Andrews, UK, and an MA in International Relations, Peace and Conflict Resolution from the University of Salvador, Argentina. He has also studied with Johann Galtung and is a trained mediator. Gert met Marshall in 2005 and was given two scholarships by Marshall to train with him for 23 days. He has since worked with the United Nations in 7 countries and also trained people in NVC in ten countries and online, in four languages. Gert became Norway’s second certified NVC trainer in 2018 and has shared NVC in schools, public institutions, companies and international organisations and with political parties and individuals.

Gert longs for a world of social justice in which we see the power of one and how we can make a difference through our own transformational process, without the temptation to want to change others.
